The Concept: The Icon of Personal Style No garment is as universal or as personal as a pair of blue jeans. At WiTaShop, we focus on Raw Selvedge Denim. Raw denim is denim in its purest form—it hasn’t been washed, distressed, or manipulated at the factory. This means the jeans start as a dark, stiff canvas. Over time, they become a “living document” of your life, fading and shaping themselves specifically to your body and your movements.
The Fabric: 14oz Selvedge Denim We use a 14oz medium-heavyweight denim woven on traditional shuttle looms. The “Selvedge” (self-edge) refers to the clean, finished edge of the fabric that won’t fray. When you roll up the cuff, you’ll see the iconic red-thread selvedge ID—a mark of slow, high-quality manufacturing. The 14oz weight provides a substantial feel that offers excellent protection and durability. Because it is raw denim, the indigo dye sits on the surface of the fibers, allowing for high-contrast “fades” (like whiskers at the hips and honeycombs behind the knees) to develop naturally as you wear them.
Traditional Construction Our jeans feature a “Slim-Straight” fit—modern enough to look sharp but with enough room in the leg to remain comfortable for daily wear. We use heavy-duty copper rivets at all stress points, such as the corners of the pockets, to ensure they never rip. The hardware is made from solid brass with a custom “WiTaShop” engraving. Instead of a zipper, we use a traditional button fly, which is more durable and avoids the “bulge” that can occur with zippers in heavyweight denim.
The Break-In Process & Care Breaking in raw denim is a ritual. For the first few weeks, they will feel stiff, but they will eventually mold to your waist and legs perfectly. To achieve the best fades, we recommend wearing them for at least 6 months before the first wash. When you do wash them, use cold water and a small amount of detergent, then hang them to dry. This preserves the deep indigo color and the unique patterns you have created.
